 Kaase Speaks to JDCS Teachers

Dr. Kris Kaase addresses JDCS Teachers

Recently JDCS Teachers had the priviliege of hearing Dr. Kris Kaase, Deputy Superintendent for Instructional Programs, from the Department of Eduation. Dr. Kaase spoke at a Professional Development meeting at the Bassfield High Auditorium. Dr. Kaase addressed the accountability labels for Mississippi schools. Each school is assigned a label determined by their performance. The labels are Failing, Low Performing, At Risk of Failing, Academic Watch, Successful, High Performing and Star School.

Schools performing at the Failing level will immediately enter an evaluation process with a task force from the state to determine a course of action that will then be presented to the school and community for implementation. Schools that perform at the Low Performing or At Risk of Failing level for two years will go into that same process. The Academic Watch label does not have any consequences at the state level but indicates that the school needs to improve its performance.
